Akita AK 509 BL (25) is a barbless fine-wire hook developed for tying dry flies. Its straight shank and light construction support delicate, classic proportions for patterns fished on the surface.

Design and use

The fine wire keeps the hook light, making it suitable for slim bodies, hackle and wings. The downturned eye leaves a clear area for the head and thread finish. When tying, keep the materials streamlined and avoid overcrowding the working space. The barbless form suits patterns and fishing methods that call for hooks without a barb. This model is non-forged and finished in black nickel.

  • Type: barbless dry-fly hook
  • Shank: straight
  • Wire and eye: fine wire, downturned eye
  • Finish and pack: black nickel; 25 hooks
