Akita Micro Rings - Black Nickel (12) are small rigging rings designed to connect a tapered leader to tippet material. They provide a compact attachment point for the final section of a fly-fishing leader, allowing the tippet to be replaced without repeatedly cutting back the tapered section. Each packet contains 12 rings in a Black Nickel finish.
Tie a ring to the fine end of the tapered leader, then attach the chosen tippet to the other side. This arrangement is useful when changing tippet diameter, replacing worn material or rebuilding the terminal section after a break-off. By keeping trimming away from the taper itself, the leader can retain its original length and turnover profile for longer.
The selectable versions differ in their dimensions and stated kilogram rating. Choose according to the diameter of the leader material, fly size and the demands of the intended set-up. Use knots suited to the chosen mono or tippet, moisten them before drawing tight, and test both connections carefully before fishing.
