Dr Slick 5 Stainless Steel Bodkin With Half Hitch is a 5-inch (12.7 cm) stainless-steel fly-tying bodkin combined with a half-hitch tool. Its precise working point is intended for applying head cement, separating or teasing out tied-in fibres, and adjusting the position of small materials on a fly.

The integrated tool at the opposite end is used to form half hitches near the fly’s head. This is a different thread-finishing method from a knot made with a whip finisher: a single loop is formed and guided into position with the tool. The dual-purpose construction lets the tier move from arranging materials or applying cement to securing the next stage of the pattern without changing tools.
