Dr Slick 6 Diamond Dual Hook File
Dr Slick 6 Diamond Dual Hook File is a double-sided file for restoring dull or lightly damaged hook points. At 6 inches long, it offers useful control when touching up hooks at the waterside, helping the angler deal with wear before a blunted point leads to uncertain hook-ups. It is suitable for checking flies after contact with rocks as well as maintaining hooks fitted to other types of fishing lure.
The stainless-steel body carries two diamond-grit working surfaces. The medium 300-grit side is intended for routine sharpening, while the heavier 150-grit side can correct a more noticeably dulled or damaged point. Sharpening grooves help guide the bend-side and tip of the hook, whilst the flat sections allow the sides of the point to be honed. A textured rubber grip makes the tool easier to hold securely during controlled work.
Inspect the point before sharpening and begin with a few light, deliberate strokes, taking care to retain its original profile. Excessive pressure or unnecessary removal of metal should be avoided. After use, clear filings and residue from the working faces, dry the file and store it where its diamond surfaces will not rub against other metal tools.
