Dr Slick Black Off Set Nipper With File
Dr Slick Black Off Set Nipper With File is a compact leader nipper made for trimming tippet tags and cutting off flies cleanly. Its offset, slanted cutting face can be positioned close to the hook eye, making it easier to remove a short tag end beside the knot while reducing the chance of catching hackle fibres or other dressing materials.
Measuring 2 inches, approximately 5.1 cm, the tool is easy to carry in a waistcoat pocket or a small tackle-pouch compartment. A built-in file allows a dulled hook point to be touched up at the waterside, while the robust cleaning pin helps clear varnish, adhesive or dried debris from a blocked hook eye. The nipper is made from 420 J2 Japanese stainless steel.
After fishing, wipe away moisture and residue from the cutting face, file and cleaning pin. Following use around salt water, rinse the tool in fresh water and dry it thoroughly. Apply the file with short, controlled strokes and inspect the hook point regularly to avoid removing more metal than necessary.
