Dr Slick Gold Loop Glove Clamp
Dr Slick Gold Loop Glove Clamp is a spring-loaded scissor clamp designed for straightforward one-handed operation, including when fishing in gloves or mittens. Rather than conventional finger rings, it uses broad handles that are squeezed to control the tool. A ratchet holds the jaws closed, while pressing the handles fully releases the lock. At 5.5 inches, approximately 14 cm, it provides useful reach when removing a fly from a fish.
The forward section works as a fishing forceps, giving controlled purchase on a hook during release and enough leverage for flattening a barb or holding a small item of tackle. Its straight jaws make accurate positioning easier. Serrated cutting blades sit behind the jaws, allowing the angler to trim leader or tippet, cut a tag end or make small adjustments to a fly without reaching for separate nippers.
The spring action opens the handles automatically once the ratchet is released, which is particularly helpful with wet, cold or gloved hands. After use, rinse the clamp in fresh water and dry it thoroughly. This should be done promptly after saltwater fishing, with an occasional small drop of light oil applied to the joint to keep the action smooth.
