Dr Slick Typhoon Plier
Dr Slick Typhoon Plier is a 6.5-inch fishing tool designed for gripping hooks securely, removing flies and flattening barbs. Its straight jaws provide controlled handling of larger flies and strong hooks, while the side cutters make it easy to prepare a leader or remove a damaged section of line.
The jaws are made from heat-treated, coated SUS420 J2 stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 52. Their working faces combine smooth and striated sections, giving the angler precision on smaller components and a firmer hold on heavier hooks. The replaceable tungsten-carbide side cutters have a Rockwell hardness above 70. They cut monofilament, braid and synthetic lines, as well as wire rated up to 60 lb.
The 6061-T6 anodised-aluminium frame is suitable for use in salt water. Rubberised handles provide a secure grip with wet hands, while a self-opening spring resets the pliers when pressure is released. The set includes a coiled safety lanyard, a moulded swivel holster with clip, spare jaws and cutters, and a hex key. After exposure to salt water, rinse the pliers in fresh water, dry them and apply a small amount of oil to the moving joint.
