Ewing Grizzly Half Capes
Ewing Grizzly Half Capes are half capes containing feathers from the rooster’s neck. The Dyed over Grizzly finish preserves the characteristic grizzly barring beneath the dye, combining a defined pattern with strong colour. The cape provides feathers in different sizes for dry flies, nymphs, streamers and other patterns. Select individual feathers by the length and width of the usable section, then prepare them for hackles, wings or contrasting details. The range of sizes makes it easy to match the material to the hook and fly profile.
Construction and use
The half-cape format allows selection from different areas of the rooster’s neck. Resilient barbs provide controlled placement when building a hackle or another fly component. Smaller feathers suit small dry flies, nymphs and compact patterns, while larger feathers fit larger constructions. Strip unwanted barbs from one side of the feather stem before winding when the pattern requires it.
