FFGene Alum. Hair Evener

FFGene Alum. Hair Evener is an aluminium hair stacker designed to prepare even bunches of hair at the fly-tying bench. Lightly tapping the base allows the hair inside the chamber to settle so that its natural tips meet at a similar level. This makes it easier to maintain a clean, even line when forming hair wings, tails and other fly components tied from hair.

The tubular construction guides the material along one axis, while the flared opening makes it easier to insert a prepared bunch. The widened base provides a tapping surface, and the knurled ring around the body gives a more secure grip while handling the tool and removing the aligned hair. The stacker evens the tips mechanically without cutting or clamping the material, so underfur, loose fibres and noticeably short hairs should be removed beforehand.
