FFGene Bobbin Holder St
FFGene Bobbin Holder St is a complete, conventional fly-tying bobbin holder with a metal construction. It features two spring arms with spool feet, a straight thread-guide tube and a distinctive broad, round finger rest. This wide contact point helps stabilise the tool between the fingers and gives the tier direct control over thread position while forming successive wraps.
Thread-feed resistance is produced by the spring pressure of the arms against the sides of the spool. This is a standard spring-arm arrangement, not a dial-adjustable or disc-drag system. Once correctly fitted, the arms retain the spool between the feet, while the weight of the holder helps maintain working thread tension when the tool is released. Centring the spool reduces lateral movement and supports more predictable thread delivery.
Before tying, place the spool centrally between the feet and check that it turns smoothly. If the fit is loose, gently bring both arms closer together; if the spool requires excessive force to rotate, spread them slightly. Make small, symmetrical corrections and avoid repeated or excessive bending. Then feed the thread through the tube and check that its outlet is clean and smooth. The bobbin holder has an overall length of 11 cm.
