FFGene Brass Tube Bodkin
FFGene Brass Tube Bodkin is a vise-mounted needle designed specifically for tying tube flies. Unlike a conventional bodkin used for teasing out dubbing or applying head cement, it acts as a working mandrel: the tube slides onto the slender needle, leaving its outer surface accessible while thread and successive materials are applied.
The brass holder is secured in the jaws of a fly-tying vise, after which the tube is placed over the needle and the mounting mechanism is locked with the screw. This straightforward construction adapts a conventional tying station for patterns built on tubes, without clamping the tube itself directly between the vise jaws. It is a dedicated tube-fly accessory rather than a general-purpose finishing needle.
