FFGene CDC Feathers color 1 gr
FFGene CDC Feathers color 1 gr contains 1 g of dyed CDC feathers for fly tying. Feathers from the duck’s preen-gland area have fine fibres that form a light surface capable of trapping air. They are useful in dry-fly construction as wings, collars, legs, tails and elements mounted in split-thread loops. A complete feather can form a wing or soft hackle, while individual fibres add subtle movement and surface area. The dyed finish helps match the material to the imitated insect or the colour scheme of a pattern. The loose format lets the tier select feathers for different applications.
Construction and use
Before tying, gently remove loose down and choose a feather suited to the hook size. Feathers with an even outline work well for wings, while softer, longer fibres suit collars and legs. Firm thread pressure can damage the fine fibres, so mount the material carefully. Natural feathers vary in shape and density, allowing the tier to match each one to the proportions of the fly.
- Form: dyed CDC feathers for individual selection and preparation.
- Weight: 1 g of material.
- Uses: wings, collars, legs, tails and CDC loops.
- Selection and handling: match fibre length to the hook size and mount the feathers gently.
