FFGene CDC Puffs Oiler
FFGene CDC Puffs Oiler contains small selected CDC puffs from the area around a duck’s preen gland. The central quill is inconspicuous, while the fibres radiate from a common base to form a soft, compact tuft. The pack contains 0.5 g of material, approximately 150 feathers. Fine CDC fibres trap air, making these puffs useful for small, light fly components.
Construction and use
Use the puffs for wings on parachute and traditional dry flies. They can also be wrapped as a dry-fly body, incorporated into emerger patterns, or used for soft collars, legs and wing details. The shared base makes it easy to spread the tuft over the tie-in point and create a smooth, natural profile. Select an even tuft and match its volume to the hook and pattern. Controlled thread pressure preserves the spring and openness of the fibres during tying.
