FFGene Clipper
FFGene Clipper is a compact leader nipper for making quick, neat cuts while assembling or adjusting a fly-fishing leader. It is useful for trimming tag ends after tightening a knot, shortening tippet and changing flies at the waterside. The straightforward spring-action body can be operated with one hand, allowing the tool to remain readily accessible on a fishing vest, pack or tackle bag.
A fine needle is incorporated into the nipper for clearing a blocked hook eye. It can remove varnish, adhesive or other residue that prevents the tippet from passing through the eye of a fly. The supplied ball chain provides a convenient means of attaching the tool to an accessible point and helps reduce the chance of losing it while wading or changing a fly.
For a clean cut, place the leader material well between the cutting edges and press the body with a firm, controlled movement. After fishing, dry the nipper and remove moisture or debris from around the cutting edges and needle. Periodic inspection of these working areas will help maintain accurate trimming when preparing knots and leaders.
