FFGene Double Patti Ceramic Bobbin
FFGene Double Patti Ceramic Bobbin is a complete fly-tying bobbin holder designed for controlled thread delivery while dressing flies. Two spring arms support the spool between their cups, while the guide tube directs the thread towards the hook. A ceramic ring at the tube outlet provides a smooth contact surface where the thread is exposed to repeated friction, helping to reduce fraying and accidental breakage during successive wraps.
Spool resistance is produced by the pressure of the spring arms, making this a conventional spring-tension design rather than a disc-drag system. With the spool seated correctly, the holder provides smooth thread delivery and repeatable resistance. Stable spool support makes it easier to manage tension by hand, while the guide tube brings the thread accurately to the tying area.
Before tying, centre the spool between the cups and check that it rotates smoothly without excessive play. If the fit needs correction, bend or spread both arms gently in small, even increments. Once the thread has been passed through the tube, pull out a short length to confirm free movement. Keep the ceramic outlet clean and inspect it periodically for damage.
Key features
