FFGene Foam Cylinders (2)

FFGene Foam Cylinders 5 mm are foam cylinders with a 5 mm diameter for forming individual fly components. Their regular, round cross-section makes them useful for hopper bodies, extended bodies, parachute posts and Booby eyes. Each section can be cut to the length required by the pattern.

Construction and use

Cut the cylinder with sharp scissors or a knife. Round, flatten or lightly sand the ends to create the intended profile. Secure the foam with broad, controlled thread wraps to avoid cutting into it. For a parachute post, stand the cylinder upright and bind the base firmly before winding the hackle. When forming Booby eyes, keep both pieces equal in length. The flotation of the finished fly is also affected by the hook, any added weight and the remaining dressing materials.
