FFGene French Partridge
FFGene French Partridge consists of loose French partridge feathers valued for their distinctive colour and barring. Their soft, mobile fibres create natural wet-fly hackles and suit Soft Hackle patterns particularly well. Individual feathers can also add movement to a dry-fly hackle, form a mayfly wing, serve as a Matuka wing element or provide an accent in a streamer.
Construction and use
The fibres create a lightly pulsating profile. Select each feather to match the intended hackle length and volume, paying attention to an even pattern. After stripping unwanted fibres from the base, wind the feather with controlled tension to preserve its softness and movement. The colour and barring are characteristic of French partridge and suit the recreation of specific fly patterns.
