FFGene Guinea fowl feathers

FFGene Guinea Fowl Feathers are loose guinea fowl feathers with a natural speckled pattern or a dyed base colour. The contrasting spots create a distinct decorative accent on the fly and suit large sea-trout and salmon patterns. Use them for hackles, tails and cheeks, or select a suitable feather for a Matuka, with the feather running along the body and secured with thread. Individual feathers may vary in flexibility and width, so choose each section according to its tying role and the scale of the pattern. The package contains approximately 3.5 g of material.

Construction and use

Guinea fowl feathers have regular natural spotting. Dyeing changes the base colour while preserving the characteristic marked appearance of the fibres. Depending on its shape, a feather can serve as a hackle, tail, cheek or strip in a Matuka. The spacing and contrast of the spots help match the material to the intended effect and fly size.
