FFGene India Cock Saddles

FFGene India Cock Saddles are rooster saddles with long, soft feathers for larger flies. The material suits streamers, large Matuka patterns, pike flies and the Polish fly-spinning lures known as koguty. The feathers form full, mobile hackles and extended side elements. Their fibres are more resilient than hen-feather fibres, while the soft feathers still move clearly in water. A saddle generally offers longer feathers in fewer sizes than a cape, making it suitable for repeated larger patterns. Match feather length to the hook size and intended streamer width.

Construction and use

Use the feathers as soft hackles or for sides and other extended fly components. Their movement in water complements large streamers, Matukas and pike flies. Select the colour according to the feather's role in the pattern and the contrast required.
