FFGene Lead Wire is a soft lead wire for building artificial flies. It is made from a very pure blend containing 99% lead and 1% plasticizers. The material can be wrapped around the hook shank and positioned beneath the body, giving the tier a practical way to place weight where it is needed.

Construction and use

This wire is intended mainly for heavy nymphs and weighted streamers. It comes on a spool, so the tier can select an appropriate length for the hook and control the amount of added weight during construction. Its softness helps it conform to the shank, but it is best wrapped smoothly and without sharp kinks, especially when a neat thread base and an even body profile are important. Cut lead carefully and wash hands after handling; keep the material away from children.
