FFGene Magic Flash
FFGene Magic Flash is a fine, loose reflective synthetic strand with an opalescent sheen. In water it produces a flickering accent that changes with fly movement and the angle of the light. The material is suited mainly to streamer wings, flanks, backs and tails, while small portions can also be used in more delicate fly patterns where a measured flash is useful.
Construction and use
Work with restraint: the strands should scatter light and complement the main material rather than form a heavy, solid bundle. Magic Flash can be blended with synthetic hair, layered through a wing or shortened to create a precise accent. Its opalescent reflection is useful in baitfish profiles and streamer tails that need additional movement and visual texture.
- Wing and back: tie a few strands between fibre layers or secure them over the top of the profile.
- Lateral line: position short sections along the sides to define the silhouette and add flicker during the retrieve.
- Tail: a small, firmly secured bundle enriches a streamer without restricting the movement of other materials.
- Tying: cut a small amount, align it between your fingers, bind it tightly on the hook shank, and trim after shaping the profile.
