FFGene Mylar 4 mm
FFGene Mylar 4 mm is lightweight, hollow braided tubing with a reflective surface. It is used to form the outer layer of fly and streamer bodies. The nominal 4 mm diameter can be matched to a prepared underbody and the intended profile. Silver and pearl finishes are offered, with the pearl version changing its sheen as the angle of the light shifts.
Construction and use
Slide the tubing over a smooth, prepared underbody, leaving spare material beyond both securing points. Stretching makes the braid narrower and longer, while compressing it increases its diameter. The final profile can therefore be controlled through both the shape of the underbody and the tension applied to the braid. Tie the material down at the beginning and end of the body, then secure the cut edges against fraying. Even tension helps produce a clean, orderly surface.
