FFGene Regent Vice Revolving Black
FFGene Regent Vice Revolving Black uses a classic spring-jaw design valued for exceptionally quick and intuitive hook changes. Operating the lever opens the jaws; releasing it applies the holding pressure without requiring the jaw gap to be reset for each hook. The tier can therefore move from a small hook to a substantially larger pattern without repeatedly working an adjustment screw. This is convenient when tying a single fly at an unhurried pace and particularly efficient when producing a longer batch of one pattern.
The vise covers a broad hook range, from approximately #24 to 4/0. It can therefore be used for fine dry flies and nymphs, conventional wet flies, streamers and larger patterns, provided that the hook is seated correctly in the jaws. With a small hook, placement should preserve clear access to the shank. A large hook needs to be inserted deeply enough for a secure hold, which should always be checked before thread tension is applied. The spring action makes size changes easy, but correct hook placement remains essential for comfortable and safe tying.
Rotating head and adjustable working angle
The head rotates through 360 degrees, making it easy to inspect every side of the fly, check wing alignment and tail symmetry, or see how materials have been secured beneath the shank. The joint between the head and the stem also allows the tying angle to be changed. The hook can be positioned higher, lower or closer to horizontal to suit the pattern, the height of the worktop and the tier’s preferred posture.
In this model, “Revolving” describes convenient rotation for inspection and access. It is not a true-rotary vise designed to keep the hook shank exactly on the rotational axis while materials are wrapped continuously. Regent is best understood as a strong traditional spring-jaw vise with extensive positioning freedom.
The Black version has a black-finished jaw mounting section, giving the tool a restrained, technical appearance. A substantial C-clamp secures the vise to the edge of the worktop. This mounting method keeps more of the table surface free and, when tightened correctly, provides a stable platform even when thread and materials are pulled firmly.
- Jaws: fast spring-and-lever action without resetting the opening for every hook.
- Working range: hooks from approximately #24 to 4/0.
- Positioning: 360-degree head rotation and adjustable head angle.
- Mount: C-clamp attachment for the edge of a worktop.
- Finish: black-finished jaw mounting section.
FFGene Regent Vice Revolving Black suits tiers who want the speed of spring jaws, a broad hook range and easy access to every side of the fly. Its direct controls allow attention to remain on proportions and material placement rather than repeated adjustment of the tool itself.
