FFGene Tinted Micro Tail
FFGene Tinted Micro Tail is an approximately 1 cm wide prepared strip of fine synthetic tailing fibres with shaded colour transitions. It is intended for dry-fly tails, mayfly spinner tails, spent wings and caddis antennae. The grouped fibres make it easy to take a small bundle and tie a neat, consistent detail without handling each fibre separately.
Construction and use
Select a small bundle with the length and density required by the pattern, separate it from the prepared strip and align the tips. Place the fibres at the rear of the hook shank, secure them with a few loose thread wraps, then tighten the thread and build a firm tie-in point. Where the pattern calls for it, divide the bundle into two or three tails. For spent wings, arrange the fibres in the required spread; for caddis antennae, trim them to suit the proportions of the imitation.
- Form: prepared strip of fine synthetic fibres, approximately 1 cm wide.
- Tailing: use a small bundle tied at the rear of the hook shank; it can be divided into two or three tails.
- Uses: dry flies, mayfly spinner tails, spent wings and caddis antennae.
- Selection: shaded family variants allow the fibre appearance to be matched to the pattern and its proportions.
