Greys Kite Double Handed Fly Rod
Greys Kite Double Handed is a family of two-handed fly rods developed for Spey casting and river fishing for migratory salmonids. The grip layout is shaped for two-handed technique, supporting swung-fly presentations and casts made where restricted space behind the angler limits a conventional back cast. The range is intended for fisheries including Atlantic salmon, steelhead and sea trout.
Its remit extends across medium-to-heavy Spey applications and a broad choice of shooting-head systems. Lighter Scandi heads allow the upper blank to form tight loops, while heavier Skagit heads bring a deeper part of the blank into play when delivering substantial flies or fast-sinking tips. Where the surroundings provide sufficient room, the rods can also be used for overhead casting.
Construction and series character
The Kite Double Handed is built on a high-intermediate-modulus Greys Toreon carbon blank. Greys classifies every rod in the family as medium-fast and describes the action as high recovery. Its progressive flex allows the depth of load to change with the head system and the demands of the cast. This gives the series the working range required for different Spey styles and for controlling a fly across broad river lies.
An AAA-grade cork handle provides the dedicated two-handed grip. The full alloy reel seat incorporates locking nuts with a nylon cushion ring and a keyed slide band, creating a secure mounting arrangement for the reel during repeated two-handed casting. The carbon blank has an understated matt Carbon Grey finish.
The guide set combines single-foot snake guides with lined stripping guides. Model identification and alignment dots are applied to the rod elements to make correct guide alignment straightforward during assembly. Each rod is supplied with a cloth bag and a hard tube for storage and transport.
