Greys Kite Single Handed Fly Rod
Greys Kite Single Handed is a family of single-handed fly rods introduced as a development of the Lance series during the company’s 2022–23 range overhaul. Within the revised collection, Kite was positioned between Lance and the more specialised Wing family, adding construction and convenience upgrades alongside a broader selection of configurations.
Greys developed the family to cover a wide spectrum of single-handed techniques and fishing situations. Across the series are configurations intended for trout fishing in confined, overgrown surroundings, streamer work for predatory fish and applications involving migratory salmonids. The blank technology, action profile and practical identification features provide a common foundation throughout the range.
Construction and series character
Kite Single Handed rods are built on Greys Toreon carbon blanks made from high-intermediate-modulus material. The official specification defines the action throughout the family as medium-fast. Greys also describes it as a high-recovery action developed to deliver refined, dependable performance, and the same action classification appears against every configuration in the manufacturer’s comparison table.
The series is fitted with lined stripping guides and single-foot snake guides. Its alloy reel-seat hardware uses dual locking nuts, a nylon cushion ring and a guided sliding band designed to remain captive and resist rotation. These fastening details form part of the shared specification independently of the decorative components selected for individual configurations.
Model identification and alignment dots are marked on the rod sections, helping the angler identify and line up the blank correctly during assembly. Each rod is supplied with a rod bag and a hard tube for storage and transport.
