Greys Lance Fly Rod
Greys Lance is a concise family of single-handed fly rods positioned as the entry point to the brand’s performance range. It is intended for both newcomers to fly fishing and experienced anglers who want to explore the practical character of Greys rods. Throughout the family, the design centres on a carbon-fibre blank, a medium-fast action and a functional set of fittings.
Every Lance version shares the same medium-fast action classification. Greys also describes this as a user-friendly, high-performance action, giving the series a consistent overall casting character. Anglers can therefore select a configuration for their intended fishing while retaining the common construction principles and action profile of the Lance family.
Construction and series character
The rod is built on an intermediate-modulus carbon-fibre blank. This material is used throughout the range and is paired with the medium-fast action that defines the working character of Lance. The handle is made from AAA-grade cork, maintaining a consistent material standard across the family.
Line control is handled by single-foot snake guides together with lined stripper guides. This guide specification is shared across the Lance series, creating a consistent approach to blank fittings throughout the family.
The rods use an all-alloy anodised reel seat fitted with twin locking nuts and a nylon cushion ring. Its sliding band carries a positioning mark, while alignment dots on the blank sections assist with correct assembly. Each rod is supplied in an internally divided tube that keeps its components organised during storage and transport.
