Greys Wing Salt Fly Rod
Greys Wing Salt is a specialised family of single-handed fly rods within the Wing series, developed for saltwater fishing. Its construction and action are directed towards casting large, heavy and highly air-resistant flies, including presentations made at range. The rods are also designed to provide the authority required when fighting fast, powerful marine fish.
The family covers applications from lighter coastal fishing to demanding work with bulky flies and hard-running fish. Greys classifies the shared action profile as medium-fast. Its progressive load and prompt recovery support compact loops, longer casts and work in windy conditions, while the powerful lower blank provides useful reserve during a strenuous fight.
Construction and series character
At the centre of the Wing Salt is a high-modulus carbon blank made with the Powerlux matrix. This construction is used to combine a slender blank profile with high tensile strength. The blank has been tuned specifically for saltwater use, concentrating on the energy required to accelerate substantial fly patterns and control powerful tackle.
The guide set comprises lined stripping guides and double-foot snake guides. Each rod is fitted with an AAA-grade cork handle and a full alloy reel seat. Dual locking nuts are paired with a nylon cushion ring, while the keyed and milled reel-seat slide band is shaped to reduce the weight of this component.
Model identification and alignment dots assist with accurate assembly. A matt carbon-grey blank finish is complemented by gloss red detailing towards the lower end of the rod. Greys supplies the Wing Salt with a rod bag and rigid tube for protected storage and carriage.
