Greys Wing Stillwater Fly Rod
Greys Wing Stillwater is a family of single-handed fly rods developed for fishing lakes and reservoirs, as well as situations that call for additional power and greater casting distance. It forms the purpose-built stillwater branch of the Wing series, with its overall character shaped around the demands of modern stillwater fly fishing.
The blanks are designed to work with a broad selection of fly-line densities, from floating lines through to fast-sinking types. This gives the range a consistent casting character when the line type is changed to match the conditions and the chosen fishing method.
Construction and series character
The series is built around Powerlux carbon blanks. The technology is described as using a high-modulus carbon matrix to produce a slim blank profile while retaining high tensile strength. Every Wing Stillwater model has a medium-fast action with quick recovery. Power is developed through the lower part of the blank, while the tip contributes precision and control. This character supports carrying more line in the air and delivering it effectively when casting into a wind.
The blanks are fitted with single-foot snake guides and lined stripper guides. The single-foot construction helps to reduce swing weight during the casting stroke. A full-alloy reel seat incorporates twin locking nuts with a nylon cushion ring. Its keyed and milled sliding band removes material to reduce component weight. An AAA-grade cork handle completes the shared specification.
The finish combines a matt carbon-grey blank with gloss-red detailing around the lower section. Model identification markings and alignment dots help the angler position the blank elements correctly during assembly. Each rod is supplied with a fabric rod bag and a protective hard tube.
