Griffin Tying Tools Bobbin Flared
Griffin Tying Tools Bobbin Flared is a conventional fly-tying bobbin distinguished by a tube flared at both ends — at the spool side and at the working outlet. This shape makes material easier to introduce into the tube and provides a gentler transition at the exit, helping to reduce snagging and fraying during wrapping. The tube has a 1/16-inch inside diameter and is intended to handle a broad range of spooled materials, from fine tying thread and floss to lead wire.
The tube and spring arms are made from polished stainless steel, while nylon spool beads promote smooth spool rotation. This is a standard spring-arm design: working resistance comes from pressure on the spool rather than a slider, adjustment knob or disc-drag mechanism. Before tying, seat the spool between the nylon beads and check that it turns without binding sideways. Resistance can be corrected by carefully closing or opening the arms; when using fine thread, begin with light pressure and test the feed over a short length before tying.
