H2O Angel Silk
H2O Angel Silk is a soft synthetic fibre for building streamer wings, bodies and baitfish profiles. Its smooth, velvet-like texture is combined with fine Angel Hair-style flash strands, adding fullness without making a tied bundle rigid or overly compact. In the water, the fibres move softly and can give a fly a marabou-like flow while retaining the practical durability of a synthetic material.
Construction and use
Angel Silk can be layered, blended with other fibres, tapered and trimmed to shape. Match the amount to the fly size: a smaller bundle starts moving readily and makes it easier to keep a slim, controlled profile.
- Streamer wings Tie in a small bundle securely, separate the fibres and trim the outline to suggest a baitfish.
- Backs and tails Use it for a fuller back, side or tail when a soft transition between material layers is wanted.
- Preparation Even the tips, bind the base firmly and avoid an excessive bundle so the fibres retain their movement in water.
- Accent work Blend a modest amount with synthetic hair or other strands to add structure and variation without overloading the fly.
