Hardy Aydon Single Handed Fly Rod
Hardy Aydon Single Handed is the single-handed branch of the Aydon family, listed by Hardy alongside its Travel, Switch and Double Handed ranges. It was developed as a broad selection of fly rods for varied freshwater fishing, extending from small trout streams to large, open stillwaters. Individual tapers are tuned for their intended roles, allowing the chosen model to reflect the water and fishing method.
A medium-fast action is shared throughout the series. Hardy characterises Aydon through a blend of balance, blank recovery and power, developed to deliver approachable casting performance together with practical qualities on the water. The individual designs were refined through extensive on-water development and testing.
Construction and series character
Every rod is built on a Sintrix multi-modulus carbon-fibre blank. Hardy employs this construction across the complete Aydon Single Handed family while retaining the same broad medium-fast action category. The blanks carry a restrained olive-green finish that gives the range a consistent, traditional appearance.
The shared guide specification combines hard-chrome single-foot guides with ceramic-lined stripping guides. Each rod also uses a lightweight reel seat designed specifically for the series. Its keyed sliding band is intended to make positioning and operating the reel fitting straightforward.
Aydon Single Handed maintains a consistent construction concept across the family, while its individually tuned tapers address the different demands encountered on streams, rivers and stillwaters. Every rod is supplied with a quality rod bag and a practical travel tube.
