Hareline Cactus Chenille Medium

Hareline Cactus Chenille Medium is chenille with a medium profile for constructing streamer bodies and other larger flies. Its fibres create a compact decorative surface with a pearlescent sheen. It can be used as the main body material or combined with a tail, wing and collar made from other tying materials.

Construction and use

Sweep the fibres away from a short section at the end to expose the core, then tie the core to the hook shank. Wrap the chenille in even adjoining turns, brushing the fibres back before each turn so they are not trapped beneath the next wrap. The medium profile suits streamers and pike or sea-trout flies with a moderate body volume. Tie off the core, trim the excess and shape the fibres with your fingers once the body reaches the required length.
