Hareline Chicones Fettuccine Foam

Hareline Chicone's Fettuccine Foam consists of narrow, ready-cut foam strips for building wings and bodies without first slicing a sheet. The material can be used for dry-fly wings and bodies, mouse patterns and other surface patterns. Each strip is approximately 15 cm long and can be trimmed to suit the size of the fly.

Construction and use

Choose a strip of suitable width, trim the end and secure it to the hook shank with broad thread wraps. When forming a wing, control thread tension so the foam is not crushed or cut; for a body, place the material in even turns or folds according to the pattern. A thread base or adhesive compatible with foam may stabilise the tie-in point when useful. The strip can also be cut and shaped with scissors before tying.
