Hareline Chironomid Braid
Hareline Chironomid Braid is a continuous woven braid for forming nymph bodies, especially chironomid patterns. Its flat construction lies broader and more evenly on the hook shank than a round cord, producing a smooth surface with a subtle sheen. It can also be used for defined segments or as a base layer beneath additional fly materials.
Construction and use
Tie in the braid at the rear of the shank while keeping its flat orientation. Wrap it in adjoining turns without twisting, allowing the edges to meet lightly. The body width can be adjusted by changing how much each turn overlaps the previous one. Secure the braid at the front and trim the waste. It is suited to nymph bodies, ribbed sections and distinct segmentation where a consistent, tape-like surface is useful.
