Hareline Deer Belly Hair
Hareline Deer Belly is a hair patch of strongly flaring deer belly hair. The fibres build a full, stable profile when tied in and are suited to shaped heads, muddler-style flies, and larger streamer wings or bodies.
Construction and use
Select fibres of similar length, clear the loose material from the butts, and align the tips in a stack or by hand. Apply thread pressure gradually because the hair flares readily; secure each bunch with firm locking wraps before adding the next one. Trim the tied material in stages to shape a head or taper a streamer profile.
- Material: deer belly hair selected for strong flare under thread.
- Form: hair patch for cutting individual bunches.
- Preparation: clean the butts, align the tips, and control the flare while tying.
- Uses: muddler-style heads, clipped heads, streamer wings, and shaped profiles.
