Hareline Double Barrel Popper Bodies

Hareline Double Barrel Popper Bodies are ready-made foam bodies for tying poppers or sliders. They have a smooth surface, a cupped front, an extended upper lip and recessed eye sockets. Select the body to match the hook shank, then position it so the front profile suits the intended construction of the fly.

Construction and use

Fit the body to the appropriate hook and secure it firmly with broad thread wraps at the intended tie-in points. The cupped front can shape a popper's surface action, while the extended upper lip contributes to a slider profile; preserve these features when mounting the body. Set the eyes into the recessed sockets. The surface may be left as supplied, painted or finished with a coating suitable for foam.

• XS: 8 pieces; hook #8; 3 mm eyes.
• S and M: 8 pieces each; S for hook #6 and 3 mm eyes, M for hook #2 and 4 mm eyes.
• L and XL: L — 6 pieces, hooks 2/0–4/0, 6 mm eyes; XL — 4 pieces, hooks 5/0–6/0, 8.5 mm eyes.
