Hareline Dubbin
Hareline Dubbin is a classic all-natural rabbit dubbing and one of the most versatile materials for forming fly bodies. The soft underfur twists into a neat dubbing noodle, while occasional longer guard hairs leave a gently buggy, irregular outline. It works on its own and also provides a reliable base for custom blends with flash or other natural furs.
Construction and use
Distribute a small pinch evenly along the tying thread and wrap it in touching turns. A thin noodle produces slim abdomens; using more material and brushing it out creates a fuller body or a thorax with visible leg-like fibres. This makes it a practical starting point for traditional nymphs, wet flies and straightforward trout patterns.
- Material: 100% carefully blended rabbit fur.
- Texture: a soft base with a naturally uneven, slightly spiky outline.
- Uses: nymphs, wet flies, caddis larvae and Hare’s Ear-style patterns.
- Blending: a useful base for adding flash or coarser natural fibres.
