Hareline Fino Skin
Hareline Fino Skin is an elastic transparent sheet supplied on a paper backing. It can be cut into shellbacks, wing cases, bodies and crustacean shells. The sheet conforms to the fly’s profile and is useful for forming slim covered sections without adding unnecessary bulk.
Construction and use
Cut the required shape while the sheet is still on its paper backing. After preparing the piece, separate it from the paper and place it over the body or tie it in at the starting point. For a shellback or wing case, stretch the material over the shaped body, secure it at the front and trim away the excess. Moderate tension helps produce an even surface; excessive tension can narrow the sheet and alter the proportions of the finished element. Trim the edges before tying when a precise outline is needed. A thin coat of varnish may be used to stabilise the finished piece.
