Hareline Hares Wiggle Dub
Hareline Hare’s Wiggle Dub blends soft hare dubbing with extremely fine elastic fibres. Once brushed out, the rubber-like strands project from the body and move independently as the fly is retrieved, suggesting legs or gills. The natural base preserves a mottled, insect-like appearance that separate synthetic leg material alone cannot provide.
Construction and use
A dubbing loop distributes the components most effectively. Trap the fibres in the loop, spin, wrap and only then brush the body; overly long loose ends can be trimmed selectively. The blend is particularly useful on fuller thoraxes where individual elastic strands should remain mobile instead of lying flat along the hook shank.
- Blend: hare dubbing with very fine elastic fibres.
- Movement: projecting strands behave like legs or gills in the current.
- Uses: mayfly and caddis nymphs, larvae, beetles and wet flies.
- Technique: dubbing loop, brushing and careful selective trimming.
