Hareline Holographic Cactus Chenille
Hareline Holographic Cactus Chenille is chenille for building full, dimensional bodies on flies and streamers. Its cactus-style surface is combined with a holographic finish, producing a pronounced textured body with reflections that change across viewing angles. It may be used as a complete body material or as one element in a layered pattern.
Construction and use
Expose a short section of the core by sweeping the fibres aside, then tie the core in on the hook shank. Wrap the chenille in adjacent turns, sweeping the fibres rearward before each turn. Looser spacing leaves a more open texture, while closer turns build a fuller body. Secure the core with thread, trim the waste and even the silhouette with scissors if the pattern calls for a cleaner outline.
- Form: cactus-style chenille with a core.
- Finish: holographic reflections that change with viewing angle.
- Profile: distinctly dimensional and fibrous.
- Uses: streamers, salmon flies, fly jigs and Woolly Bugger bodies.
