Hareline Ice Fur
Hareline Ice Fur is a soft, fur-like synthetic fibre for building full yet mobile fly profiles. Its structure lets you form streamer wings from layered bundles along the hook shank, while reflective accents break up the otherwise even surface of the fibres. It can be combined with other synthetic hairs, flash or a small amount of dubbing to shape a baitfish-style silhouette.
Construction and use
Ice Fur is suited to streamer wings, tails, backs and lateral accents. Before tying, separate the material, remove excess fibres and prepare a small, firmly secured bundle. Additional layers give control over volume and colour transitions. The fibres can be tapered and trimmed after they are tied in, but leave enough loose length for the material to move as the fly is stripped. Avoid compressing the wing into an overly dense mass.
- Material form: loose fur-like synthetic fibres with reflective accents.
- Main uses: streamer wings, tails, backs and lateral parts of baitfish profiles.
- Preparation: separate small bundles, layer them and secure them firmly along the hook shank.
- Finishing: taper or trim the profile after tying, while preserving room for movement.
