Hareline Mayfly Tails
Hareline Mayfly Tails are prepared fine nylon fibres for tailing dry flies. The fibres are supplied in a convenient strip or brush-like bundle, allowing you to separate a small amount and match the tail to the hook size. They are treated with Water Shed to support floatability, making them suitable for mayfly imitations, including dun, spinner and spent patterns.
Construction and use
Separate a small bundle, even the tips and tie it at the rear of the hook shank while controlling the finished tail length. Depending on the pattern, the fibres can remain as one tail, be divided into two tails or be arranged in three directions. A small bundle gives a fine profile, while a larger one creates a more visible tail on a bigger fly. Use the material for straight, divided or splayed mayfly tails where a clean, adjustable fibre bundle is required.
