Hareline Midge Cactus Chenille
Hareline Midge Cactus Chenille is a fine chenille for forming bodies, segments and small collars on flies. Its continuous construction can be wrapped directly along the hook shank, while its open surface gives the body more texture than a flat tinsel. The Midge format suits compact patterns where balanced proportions matter.
Construction and use
Expose a short section of the core, tie it in, and wrap the material in adjacent turns. Tight turns create a slimmer body, while additional or more closely spaced turns add volume. Sweep the fibres back before each turn to keep the surface open, then tease or trim the finished body lightly if required. Use it for nymphs, emergers, wet flies, insect imitations and small streamers. It can cover the full body or provide a short segment or thorax.
- Form: fine chenille with a core.
- Profile: textured and open, controlled by the wrapping.
- Finish: synthetic surface with no additional optical claim.
- Uses: nymphs, emergers, wet flies and small streamers.
