Hareline Midge Ice Braid
Hareline Midge Ice Braid is a fine continuous braid for building bodies and ribbing on small flies. Its clear, non-iridescent surface creates a translucent appearance, making it suitable for delicate nymphs, streamers and other patterns that call for a slim, lightly reflective body.
Construction and use
Tie the braid in at the starting point and wrap it in adjacent turns along the hook shank. Even tension helps maintain a flat, orderly profile; secure the end with several thread wraps before trimming. It can be used on its own or combined with dubbing, fibres and ribbing. Adjust the number and spacing of turns to the body profile required by the pattern.
- Form: fine continuous braid intended to be wrapped.
- Finish: clear and non-iridescent, with a subtle reflective appearance.
- Uses: bodies for nymphs, small streamers and slim fly patterns.
- Technique: tie in and wrap as braid, rather than as chenille with a fibrous core.
