Hareline Polar Chenille
Hareline Polar Chenille is a long-fibre, translucent chenille whose fibres undulate in the water in a marabou-like manner. It builds a broad, mobile body that may be left full or trimmed to the profile of a particular fly. It suits streamers and patterns for trout, salmon, steelhead, warmwater species and saltwater use.
Construction and use
Expose a short section of the core, tie it in at the start of the body, and wrap the material in adjacent turns. Sweep the fibres back before each turn so they are not trapped under the thread or the following wrap. At the finish, the chenille can be left loose, brushed out, or shaped with scissors into the profile of a baitfish, leech or other streamer.
- Form: chenille with long translucent fibres mounted on a core.
- Movement: the fibres undulate in water to create a soft, mobile body.
- Uses: large streamers and freshwater, warmwater and saltwater flies.
- Technique: expose the core, tie it in, and sweep fibres back before every wrap.
