Hareline Pseudo Marabou
Hareline Pseudo Marabou is a synthetic fibre material for building soft, full fly components. It can replace marabou in streamer wings, tails and other parts that need free fibre movement. A natural taper is made by pulling the material apart with your fingers rather than cutting the tips with scissors. This preserves an uneven, flowing profile and lets you adjust the amount of material to the pattern.
Construction and use
Prepare a small bundle, align its base and secure it firmly along the hook shank. Then separate the fibres with your fingers from the tie-in point towards the tips, gradually reducing their density. This produces a tapered wing or tail without a hard, evenly cut edge. Pseudo Marabou may be layered or combined with other synthetic fibres, but excessive material will restrict its movement in the water.
- Material form: loose synthetic fibres for building soft profiles.
- Uses: streamer wings, tails and fly components that need movement.
- Tapering method: pull the fibres apart with your fingers instead of cutting the tips.
- Tying: use small bundles and secure them firmly along the hook shank.
