Hareline Scud Back
Hareline Scud Back is a flexible, translucent flat strip for scud backs, wing cases and wound bodies. It is supplied in nominal 1/8-inch and 1/4-inch widths, with an existing package length of approximately 90 cm. The strip can be stretched over a shaped underbody: tension narrows and thins it, allowing the tier to adjust the coverage and profile of the finished back or body.
Construction and use
Tie Scud Back in at the rear of the body, build the desired underbody, then stretch the strip forward and secure it behind the head. Select the nominal width according to the hook and body size, allowing for the reduction caused by tension. A rib can be added in the opposite direction to segment the back or body. Cut away the excess only after the front tie-in is firm, then finish the thread head cleanly.
