Hareline Senyos Shaggy Dub
Hareline Senyo’s Shaggy Dub consists of very finely cut Life Flex-type fibres. These soft elastic strands form a deliberately irregular, mobile outline with numerous leg-like projections when brushed out. The material can be used by itself or blended into quieter dubbing whenever an existing mixture needs more movement and a less uniform silhouette.
Construction and use
A dubbing loop is the most reliable method: distribute the fibres in the loop, spin them firmly, wrap and brush. Rolling the longer pieces directly onto thread offers less control. Shaggy Dub is especially effective for spiky bodies and collars on nymphs, carp flies and small streamers where the material should continue to move in the water.
- Material: micro-cut Life Flex-type fibres.
- Effect: a highly mobile, irregular and distinctly spiky profile.
- Uses: nymphs, carp flies, steelhead patterns and small streamers.
- Technique: primarily a dubbing loop followed by thorough brushing.
