Construction and use

Use the saddle feathers for wings, tails, side sections, streamer tails and other larger fly components. Check the feather length and shape against the hook before tying in the feather. When it forms a wing or covering, align the barb tips first. On larger patterns, secure the feather progressively so the stem stays straight and the selected fibres remain in position.
